The leaf

is a series of digital images capturing the movement of a single leaf drifting across the surface of Chapel Pond, a special place in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. The photographs were taken between 8:40 and 8:57am on a single October morning when it was particularly beautiful, quiet, and calm. The shape of the leaf on the water and the reflection of its stem were reminiscent of a swimmer, rower, or boat. It was magical.

Although the images can stand on their own, they are also gathered sequentially in a continuous loop video presentation. Below is a link to the presentation and a sampling of the individual images.
